The perfect dish for undecisive persons like me. Thali comes with a variety of small portions to try the different flavors of Indian cuisine.

Indian cuisine has so much variety to offer. But what if you just can't decide which meal to take. Or if you want rice, but also Papad and roti? Then a Thali is a good choice.

It is basically a variety of small trials.

The first Thali order was together with Bans in Goa. We got a big plate of rice, two chapati and one Papad (in German/Indian restaurants it is called Papadam). On the side small cups filled with cauliflower, dal, curd and some cabbage. All flavored with the richness of Indian spices like cumin, coriander, tumeric and probably Garam Masala. I especially like the lemon pickles which is usually served which adds a sour taste to the dish.

Yesterday for dinner, Vinay and me got a even more diversified version of Thali. The vegetable portion this time was Okra, a vegetable I especially like. On top of dal, curd, rice, roti and papad, there was a small dessert called which I especially liked because of the cardamom spice. Also there was a liquid called solkhadi which is produced from a plant sol. Apparently it is flavored with tamarin and coriander and is taken after the meal helping the digestion.
